Stephen Colbert cited a recent Washington Times editorial by Ted Nugent on Monday’s episode of ‘The Colbert Report.’ In the editorial, the rocker described the youth of today as “terminally stoned on apathy.”

At first, Colbert seemed skeptical of Nugent’s choice of medium for the editorial, doubting whether the ailing newspaper industry could actually “jolt our youth awake.”

But, Colbert agreed with Nugent on the dangers of apathy. “Yes, apathy, which is a gateway drug,” he said. “It starts with apathy. It eventually leads to crystal meh.”
