And this wasn’t just random members of the public voting for their favorite. The magazine polled several musical superstars about their favorite Beatles tunes, coming up with a list of the top 100 songs.

Beatles producer George Martin and The Who’s Pete Townshend both chose the 1967 “Strawberry Fields” as their favorite, as did members of the band Hot Chip.

Other superstars who voted in the poll include Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Muse’s Matt Bellamy, The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, and even John Lennon’s son Julian.

So here's The Beatles greatest songs Top 10 counting up from 10 to 1:

10. 'Hey Jude' -- McCartney and Lennon's ode to John's eldest son, Julian, broke the pop radio rules for short songs when it clocked in at over six minutes long.

9. 'I Am The Walrus' -- Koo koo ka choo, as the song with the strange lyrics locks up at top ten slot.

8. 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' -- George Harrison's song writing has long been admired by musicians, so this is no surprise.

7. 'Across The Universe' -- This highly regarded song about love actually was inspired by an argument John had with his then wife, Cynthia.

6. 'Tomorrow Never Knows' -- This spacey 1967 gem launched the Beatles into their psychedelic era.

5. 'Blackbird' -- A folky number from The White Album almost reads as a lullabye. it has been covered by other artists almost as much as any other Beatles song.

4. 'Here Comes The Sun' -- Another George composition, this song demonstrated his acoustic guitar prowess.

3. 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' -- An obvious choice, seeing how this song was the one that launched the group to a world wide audience. Live versions of this song showed off the group's charisma.

2. 'A Day In The Life' -- McCartney and Lennon dropped so many drug references into this song, it launched a turning point for pop music.

1. 'Strawberry Fields Forever' -- The song referenced John's love of playing in the garden of an orphanage called Strawberry Fields while growing up in Liverpool. There is now a Strawberry Fields memorial in John's honor in New York's Central Park.

I remember it debuting on the group's Saturday morning cartoon show, which is where this video is from.
