Stroh's Beer, is being brewed in Detroit again, but your Dad's favorite beer has a better taste in the old school classic Stroh's bottle.

I can remember my Dad making me run to the fridge to grab him a bottle of beer (I'm pretty sure my Dad had eight kids just to so he could have someone get him beer). It was always Stroh's in the short, stubby bottle. The minute Stroh's went to a more traditional tall bottle, my Dad accused them of selling out and switched to Old Milwaukee.

Now Stroh's is back up brewing in Detroit, but with a pilsner, rather then the old 'fire brewed' lager, that holds up well in the craft brew era.

"This is a brand that Stroh had made at one time and was a very good, credible beer," Stroh's brew master Greg Duehs told the Detroit Free Press. "And I think it'll resonate very well with craft beer drinkers as well as people that drink the regular Stroh's Lager."

The new beer will hit stores today and retail for $7.99 per six pack. Stroh's Lager, the old fire brewed original, is still sold in stores as well, but is now brewed in Ohio.

The new brew has been getting some great early reviews from beer afficiandos and has a nostalgia factor that should carve a out a nice niche market in Michigan.

But will the old school brand of 'fire brewed' Stroh's ever make a return with the old bottle?

"Depending on volumes and how the beer is accepted, I wouldn't rule fire-brewing out in the future, for this brand or any other future brands," Deuhs said.
