Three Grand Rapids high schools remain alive in the Michigan High School Athletic Association boys' basketball tournament, which hits the quarterfinal stage tonight. Godwin Heights, Tri-Unity Christian and NorthPointe Christian hope to do what no area girls' team could do -- get to the state semifinals.

Morgan Korf, a junior who led the Rockford-Sparta high school gymnastics team to the MHSAA Division 1 state championship before capturing an all-around individual state title last week, has been named Meijer-97.9 WGRD High School Athlete of the Week.

Brent Kimbrel, who captains the unbeaten East Kentwood High School boys' basketball team, is this week's Meijer-97.9 WGRD High School Athlete of the Week.

Josh Kukla, who leads Grandville High School boys' bowling squad and is the defending MHSAA Division I singles champion, is this week's Meijer-97.9 WGRD High School Athlete of the Week.

Tyree Jackson, who led Mona Shores High School's football team to a 12-2 season and an MHSAA Division 2 state runner-up finish, is this week's Meijer-97.9 WGRD High School Athlete of the Week.

East Grand Rapids girls' swimming and diving's Emily Converse and Gabby Higgins, who each captured two MHSAA Lower Peninsula Division 3 individual state titles in addition to being on two winning relays in leading the Pioneers to a repeat state championship in Oakland, are this week's Meijer-97.9 WGRD High School Athlete of the Week co-honorees.
