The Ottawa County Sheriff has told a family they have to takedown the makeshift memorial to their daughter because it's "too close to the road". Amy Diane Linares was killed nearly 2 years ago by a drunk driver, and since her death an intricate roadside memorial was created by friends and family near Westbound I-196 by the Zeeland exit. I work in downtown Grand Rapids. That's where WFGR is located. Altough it doesn't happen often, I hate seeing places around town close up shop. Espcially downtown. I really hated to see Quiznos go, and even though it's not downtown, i was not happy to see Sandmann's BBQ on Wealthy in the Baxter neighborhood close up as well. And now a downtown eatery is closing over the weekend.
It's Earth Day! I thought a long time ago Americans wouldn't embrace Earth Day. It's a pain to recycle, it's time consuming, and it would go by the way side like Betamax and the McLean Deluxe.
