Cardboard Bobsleds Raced Down and Even Flew Over Cannonsburg! [Video]

It was a fun day out at Cannonsburg Ski & Ride Area in Belmont on Saturday with Cannonsburg, Labatt and our affiliated station 97.9 WGRD for the fifth annual Cardboard Bobsled Derby!

So many fantastic racers came out and tried to keep their bobsleds together as they raced down the hill.

Some didn't quite make it all the way down, some did get slowly down and some, well, hit record speeds!

Remember that snowstorm we had in January?

Well, the Super Bowl Sunday-Groundhog Day snowstorm was just as bad with gusting winds, sub-zero wind chills and plenty of snow.

Snowfall totals from the snowstorm hitting greater Grand Rapids and West Michigan in some locales piled up more than a foot of the white, fluffy stuff, according to the National Weather Service's Grand Rapids Office.

Consumers Energy Sending Workers to Help Out with Snowstorm in Northeastern U.S.

Consumers Energy is sending more than 50 employees to the northeastern U.S. to assist in snowstorm relief.

"We are ready and willing to assist East Coast communities as they prepare for a storm that could cause significant damage," said Michele Kirkland, Consumers Energy vice president of energy operations. "We have been fortunate in the past to be helped by out-of-state crews, and with fair weather here in Michigan, this is an opportunity for us to help them."
