A student at West Catholic High School has been arrested following threats made to fellow students on Instagram.
The Grand Rapids Police Department was contacted by administrators at West Catholic on Sunday regarding the threats. Some students were told not to go to school on Monday, while others were told that some type of harm would come to them.
Detectives from the Grand Rapids Major Case Team responded to the reports and initiated an investigation. A search warrant was executed, computers were confiscated, and one subject was taken into custody.
The suspect, a 17-year-old West Catholic student, admitted to posting the threats. That suspect has been arrested and booked into the Kent County Correctional Facility on unspecified charges.
Although the suspect claimed that the threats were a hoax, the case remains under investigation.
