Astronomers promise a sky show of sorts for Thursday and Friday evenings as the Perseid Meteor Shower passes by the Earth and promises another show.

But sometimes it produces nothing but disappointment.

In 2016, astronomers expect an outburst of Perseid meteors! The prediction is for 200 meteors per hour seen on the peak night, August 11-12 (evening of August 11, morning of August 12). That’s about double the usual rate. From southerly latitudes in the Southern Hemisphere, you’ll enjoy the shower, too, with about a third as many meteors expected.

I can remember my first summer back in Michigan in 2014, when the Perseids were expected to pack quite a punch, and since it fell n a weekend, I stayed up until 3:00am, walked out to a dark area in a park near my house and laid down to gaze at the sky.

Nothing happened. Not a damn thing. I saw one meteor. So don't get your hopes up too much, or travel much further north.

And before you say 'Jojo, a you're just being a Debbie Downer', I'm not the only one.

At any rate, the peak hours to view the Perseid in Michigan, will be Friday and Saturday nights between 11:00pm and 4:30am. Good Luck!
