The Weirdest Last Words By Death Row Inmates

A person's last words before they pass away can often be prophetic, profound, poetic, or just plain dumb. The following statements fall into that last category. Now, this might seem a bit mean spirited, but keep in mind that these people knew that these statements would be recorded and held for public record. On that note, enjoy the weirdest last words by death row inmates!

James Jackson

Executed in Texas on February 7, 2007 for a triple murder.

“…I'm ready to roll. Time to get this party started.”

James Jackson murdered his wife and two step-daughters.  He left this note behind for police: ”I love Sharon, Sonny, Ericka. I could not take care of my family. I don't have a job. I gave them back to God. He and they will understand. James.”  James' final statement might just imply that his family is throwing a surprise party for him in Heaven?   To learn more about James Jackson, you can check out his execution record at

Thomas J. Grasso

Executed in Oklahoma on March 20, 1995 for a two murders.

“I did not get my SpaghettiOs, I got spaghetti. I want the press to know this.”

His last meal was two dozen steamed mussels, two dozen steamed clams (flavored by a wedge of lemon), a double cheeseburger from Burger King, a half-dozen barbequed spare ribs, two strawberry milkshakes, one-half of a pumpkin pie with whipped cream, diced strawberries, and a 16-ounce can of spaghetti-meatballs, served at room temperature.  But all he wanted was his SpaghettiO's…  To find out more about Thomas J. Grasso, check out his Wikipedia page.

Aileen Wuornos

Executed in Florida on October 9,1992 for seven murders.

“I'd just like to say I'm sailing with the Rock and I'll be back like Independence Day with Jesus, June 6, like the movie, big mothership and all. I'll be back.”

The theatrical film 'Monster' was based on Aileen Wuornos.  Judging by her last words, she can probably write better than most Hollywood screenwriters. As far as a last statement goes, this one is top notch. Plus Aileen Wuornos was a native Michigander! For more information on her and her crimes check out her Wikipedia page.

Clarence Ray Allen

Executed in California on Janurary 17, 2006 for 3 murders.

“My last words will be, 'Hoka hey, it's a good day to die.'…”

'Hoka hey' is a Western Sioux Indian term loosely translated to 'hurry hurry'.  Why was he in such a hurry you ask?  It might have something to do with the fact that he claimed to be deaf, blind, and couldn't walk… yet he rose from his wheelchair and walked to the death podium unassisted.  Get it done quick before they figure out his trickster ways!  If you would like to know more about Clarence Ray Allen, you can check out his Wikipedia page.

George Harris

Executed in Missouri on September 13, 2000 for a murder.

“Somebody needs to kill my trial attorney.”

That truly is a heartfelt statement.  Yet, I'm not quite sure why his trial attorney needs to die, seeing as Mr. Harris was clearly guilty… he shot someone in the face because of 2 missing machine guns.  To find out more on George Harris you can check out a record of his execution at

Westley Allan Dodd

Executed in Washington on Janurary 5, 1993 for molesting and killing 2 children.

“I was once asked by somebody, I don't remember who, if there was any way sex offenders could be stopped. I said no. I was wrong.”

At least he admitted he was wrong?  And now we know of one way to stop a sex offender… catch him and have him executed.  Westley Dodd endured the first legal hanging (as per his own request) in the United States since 1965.  For more information on Westley Dodd you can check out his Wikipedia page.

Jeffrey Matthews

Executed in Oklahoma on January 11, 2011

“I think that governor's phone is broke. He hadn't called yet.”

Sorry Jeffrey, the governor's phone ain't broke.  Jeffery and his partner in crime  murdered an elderly couple and stole $500.  Usually this type of behavior is not excused by the governor.  To find out more about Jeffery Matthews you can check out this article written about his execution on

Edward Ellis

Executed on March 3, 1992

“I just want everyone to know that the prosecutor and Bill Scott are sorry sons of bitches.”

They might be sons of bitches, they might not.  Either way, Mr. Ellis was linked to several murders and robberies.  He became known as the 'Bathtub Slayer' because he left his victims bodies in their bathtubs.  To learn more about Edward Ellis you can check out his page on
