The late David Bowie once confronted MTV back in 1980’s over their reluctance to play videos by black artists.

Mark Goodman handled the accusation well, and a civilized dialogue ensues.

In the early '80s, MTV was under fire from critics for not playing any videos from emerging black artists like Run DMC and Michael Jackson. Interviewed by one of the original VJs, Mark Goodman, the late David Bowie was his usual classy self as he broached the subject. Goodman tried to defend the station's policies, but Bowie was relentless in gettin to the reason why.

It gets awkward, but it remains great TV.
