Trader Joe’s Rep. Says They Will Not Be In GR Any Time Soon

Over the last 24 hours or so, Facebook and Twitter have been alive with Grand Rapidians posting about how happy they are that Trader Joe's and Whole Foods would be coming to Grand Rapids. But, it turns out that at least one of the grocery chains isn't planning to set up shop in GR any time in the near future.

A spokesperson for Trader Joe's, which is based in California told WOOD-TV 8,

Grand Rapids is not in Trader Joe's two-year plan.

I guess if we're looking for a silver lining in all of this, just because we aren't in their two-year plan doesn't mean that they won't be coming to GR at all. The spokesperson, Alison Mochizuki, refused to comment on the prospect of Grand Rapids at a later date.

No word as to whether or not the Whole Foods rumor is true. It has also been rumored that Grand Rapids will be getting an H&M some time in the near future.
