Joshua Davis auditioned on NBC's hit talent show "The Voice" Monday night, choosing to go with Team Blake after wowing the panel with his rendition of Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be Released".

Joshua currently resides in Traverse City, but has toured the state with the Lansing based band Steppin' In It for years.

Blake Shelton and Adam Levine turned around right away during Josh's audition and were left to fight it out for his talents after Pharrell Williams and Christina Aguilera passed on him.

Davis is a long time fan of traditional American singer-songwriters like Paul Simon, Dylan and Joan Baez and the band Steppin' In It is known for their similar Americana sound.

Davis has written his own music for years and is a big supporter of Michigan music and carrying on the tradition of folk music.

Before departing for his "Voice" audition, Davis posted on his Facebook page:

I can't tell you all how thankful I am to be part of such a supportive community of creative thinkers, hard workers and open hearts. Here's to you. Here's to Michigan. They have no idea what we've got going in the Mitten. There's nothing else like it. ‪#‎mittenpride‬
