A Traverse City Police Officer has been suspended with pay after displaying a Confederate Flag on his pickup truck while off-duty.  Officer Michael Peters was seen and photographed by protesters attending an anti-Trump rally on Friday.

According to the Traverse City Record Eagle: "Peters drove a pickup truck decorated with a Confederate flag to the rally at the Open Space, parked and drank a beer."

Jeff O'Brien, the Traverse City police Chief, announced Peters' suspension on Sunday, citing an estimated 100 people who emailed the police department calling for Peters' termination.

The police department reports that it has received many positive messages of support from the community.
