Forget a date — what if it were business? If a manager took you out to dinner, and used a coupon, would that bother you? If it were a job interview, would that tell you something about the manager? Can you think of another situation where it’s better to leave the coupon book at home?    Do coupons really a bad thing or just a sign of the time?

The group then went on to produce songs such as “Love Ballad”, “(Every Time I Turn Around) Back in Love Again”, “Concentrate On You”, “Holding On (When Love Is Gone)”, and many others. Soon after the band’s 1980 album Shine On, Jeffrey and Billy Osborne departed to start solo careers. Andre Ray and Leslie Wilson (Formerly of New Birth) were then chosen as lead vocalists their next album Love Magic which produced two more hits, “April Love”, and “Kicking Back”. Leslie Wilson left to continue his solo career and L.T.D. stayed busy in the music industry by recording for small independent record labels, and doing their own personal music projects.

Forget the final three, the ladies have spoken — Phillip “Phillip” Phillips will be your host this evening, your prom king, quarterback and master of the boudoir. Girls upfront love this guy, cheered for him a few too many times during the night’s final performance, and hell, he’s why they’re sitting upfront in the first place. Oh, he also sang ‘We’ve Got Tonight’ by Bob Seger.

The judges have long-worried that Phillips is only capable of crooning off the grid in his Jakob Dylan-cum-John Mayer purr. This was not so with his “best performance of the season” according to Randy, in which Phillips stuck to what he knew; a hushed, faithful version of ‘We’ve Got Tonight,’ where he stayed in the velvety corners, hid in the pockets, winked and nuzzled his way to the finish line.

No big climax, just gliding on air — teaching today’s kids about the tear-inducing power of Seger. And it’s really hard to find the velvety corners in a string-laden piano ballad, dammit.

The band’s next single, “You Are the Woman”, made the Top 10 and the band began touring with Fleetwood Mac, who were at the beginning of their commercial peak. Their next single, “Cinderella”, though it reached the Top 40 and was played extensively on FM radio, did not fare as well on AM radio because of its controversial lyrics which caused feminist groups to pressure the stations to avoid playing it. However, this did not have a lasting effect on the band’s sales.

The group then headed back to Criteria Studios to record their second album, which was to be titled Tropical Nights. They were joined on these sessions by Cuban percussionist Joe Lala (ex-Manassas) and the Memphis Horns. But after hearing the final mix, Atlantic Records decided that the album needed to be reworked. Firefall then redid several songs and added some new ones. The album was renamed Luna Sea and released in July 1977. The revamped LP peaked at #27 on the charts and went Gold less than two months after release. The single from the album, “Just Remember I Love You”, featuring backing vocals by future Eagle Timothy B. Schmit, hit #11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Carmen’s original version has spawned numerous cover versions by such artists as Céline Dion, Frank Sinatra, and Igudesman & Joo. It should not be confused with the jazz standard of the same name, written by Irving Berlin and performed by Ella Fitzgerald and others.

#2 back in 1976 – how about today?

This may seem a little extreme. I think it is. But the bigger picture is, when did we become a world of texters instead of actually talking to others? That’s what disturbs me.

During the week of September 13 — that was the week the song returned to No. 1 on the Billboard country chart, after having been nudged out for a week by “Feelins’” by Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn — “Rhinestone Cowboy” topped both the country and Hot 100 charts simultaneously. This was the first time a song had accomplished the feat since November 1961, when “Big Bad John” by Jimmy Dean turned the trick.

“Rhinestone Cowboy” was one of six songs released in 1975 that topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Hot Country Singles charts.

Moms do a lot for us. Even after we are no longer their responsibility, they are still doing things for us that we take for granted. We should be celebrating these great ladies every single day of the year, not just on Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day is the time for pretending that preparing breakfast for mom while making a huge mess in the kitchen is a good idea. It’s a time for gluing colored pasta onto construction paper and calling it a gift. And, apparently, it’s a time for making big announcements and surprising moms to the point of dazed speechlessness.

After seeing some of these Mother’s Day surprise videos, it becomes clear that while we should celebrate our mothers every day, perhaps we should not have Mother’s Day every day. I don’t think our moms’ hearts could handle the shock and over-abundance of cuteness. But even so, perhaps these videos can give you some ideas for this year.

Moms do tons of stuff around the house to make sure we have a comfortable place to live and stay well-fed. Moms don’t like to be away from their children, but as kids grow up, they move away from home and can’t always come back to visit. Many a good Mother’s Day surprise was hatched by kids sneaking home to shock their mothers with an unexpected visit. Who knew that all you had to give Mom for Mother’s Day was you?

Don’t Just Visit, Move Closer to Mom

Of course, sometimes just visiting Mom isn’t enough. If you really want to make her Mother’s Day the best ever, pack up everything, relocate and by a house close to her without her knowing. Then, invite her over and see what happens. Just make sure she doesn’t think this means you’ll do all her yard work for her.

A Baby Is the Best Gift

While everyone else is giving their moms flowers and breakfast in bed, the kids who really love their moms are announcing that they’re going to give them grandbabies. Moms love getting babies for Mother’s Day. You just have to make sure you take the babies with you when you leave.

We can’t stress this enough. You don’t have to get your mother anything else for Mother’s Day if you happen to have a copy of a photograph from an ultrasound. They love that. Flowers schmowers. Make that woman a baby she can spoil.

What do you get the woman who has everything? Well, you find the sweet ride that she’s had in storage for decades, get it running again and then give it to her as a surprise. This grandma gets a most unexpected surprise when her ’66 Mustang pulls up, purring and ready to roll, after many years of slumber.

These surprises can be a lot for Mom to take. People showing up out of the blue. Couples announcing that grandchildren are on the way. Celebrity serenades. All of this excitement can really upset Mom and maybe send her over the edge. This little girl only had her mom’s best interests at heart when she warned her about the surprise she would receive on Mother’s Day, so that the shock would not be too much for her.

A Song From the Heart

Moms love it when you give them gifts from your heart. Even if your heart is full of snarky comments and jabs at her ability to create interesting dinner menus. Kyle wrote a song for his mother, which she seems to enjoy despite the fun it pokes at her. He makes up for it in the end and his mom ends up with a unique Mother’s Day gift she can always cherish.

Moms Like Rap Songs Too

If rap is more your style, that works too. These little girls have a rap for their mom every year, and we’re guessing she loves every one. You can see how the tradition started and why she probably looks forward to what new song she’ll get next, although it seems like they’re getting pretty hard to top.

A rare leather jacket from Motley Crue‘s ‘Dr, Feelgood’ tour has sold for $850 on eBay. While that may seem like a steep price, it’s possible that the jacket, sized women’s extra small, has a connection to the band.

The seller claims that the brown jacket, made by rock merchandisers Brockum, once belonged to singer Vince Neil‘s girlfriend. While there is no official document certifying its authenticity, the name “Laura” is embroidered in script on a front pocket, and “BAND” is also embroidered on the right sleeve below the logo, suggesting that this may not have been bought at the merch table. Motley Crue’s logo extends across the back, and five skulls are on the right shoulder.

We presume that, for that price, it has hopefully been dry-cleaned, given the Crue’s notorious decadence.

Released in 1989, ‘Dr. Feelgood’ tour was Motley Crue’s most successful album, topping the Billboard 200 and selling more than six million copies. They went on a massive tour in support of the album, headlining arenas around the world, including Australia and Japan.

Gotham City is usually dark and cloudy with a chance of crime, but you wouldn’t guess Batman has the time to do the weather report amidst all that. But viewers of Fox5 in Maryland and DC got quite the surprise when The Dark Knight himself popped on screen to deliver an important message: the daily temperatures!

So Bruce Wayne resides in Washington? Not really. Remember the Batman caught cruising in a black Lamborghini not too long ago? This Batman is now a local celebrity. He’s local businessman Lenny B. Robinson, who enjoys dressing up as Batman and spending his own money to gift toys to sick kids at various hospitals in Baltimore county.

Quite the humanitarian, Robinson, er, “Batman” was invited to the local station to do the weather forecast in the now infamous deep growl. Watch as Batman-turns-weatherman in the video below.

In 1963, he performed organ on Sam Cooke’s Night Beat album and released his first gospel album, 16 Years Soul, that same year. It rose to #24 on the Billboard album charts, while the single “Right Place Wrong Time” landed at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Still in heavy rotation on most classic rock stations, “Right Place Wrong Time” remains his single most recognized song. Artists such as Bob Dylan, Bette Midler, and Doug Sahm contributed single lines to the lyrics, which lists several instances of ironic bad luck and failure.

When you are a kid, these larger-than-life entities probably had you transfixed on saving the world (or at the very least, causing comical amounts of destruction after your mother made you do your homework).  To get your fix, you may have read comic books or watched  movies, but unless you’re born on Krypton or you were accidentally exposed to gamma radiation, your chances of actually becoming a superhero were limited.

One man, known on YouTube as anthonyle247, may have helped us all get one step close to a post-adolescent superhero reality when he recently posted videos cosplaying in a non-lethal, functioning Iron Man suit of his own design.  Let’s be clear: this is not a flimsy Halloween store costume with everything painted on.  The helmet opens and closes, causing the lights to go up EXACTLY like in the movie.  The repulsor rays in the palms light up, but do not, unfortunately, emit the blasts needed for defending the Earth from terrorism or, at the very least, knocking down walls when gutting a house.

Turn the sound up while watching and you hear the high-pitched squeals of awe-inspired geekdom coming from the videographer, echoing the sentiments of nearly every man who’s ever wanted what is essentially the greatest Christmas gift of all time.

We are confident that if given the choice between the suit and Kate Upton…ok, we’d still take Kate Upton, but this would come very close.

In 1991, George Harrison played on Lennon’s album Help Yourself but was not directly credited. A song off the album, “Saltwater”, reached number six in the UK and topped the Australian singles charts for four weeks. Also during this time he contributed a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Ruby Tuesday” to the soundtrack of the television series The Wonder Years. After 1991, Lennon left the music business for several years. He followed his interests in cooking, sailing, and sculpting during his leave from the music industry.

The 27th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony,  which was held April 14 in Cleveland, Ohio, will be making its way to the masses via HBO this Saturday, May 5 (9:00-11:30 p.m. ET/PT). The special will feature highlights from the evening including inductions, speeches, performances, tributes and so on.

Donovan, Small Faces/Faces, Beastie Boys, Guns N’ Roses, Freddie King, Laura Nyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers and are among the inductees for the program. Among the highlights is a performance by the ‘reunited’ Guns N Roses (minus Izzy and Axl, of course) that kind of leaves one asking Axl who?

Donovan, who in his acceptance speech said of his induction,“It’s a singular honor, the grandest searchlight on my music that the world can ever beam,” delivers a stellar version of ‘Sunshine Superman.’

We also get Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill of ZZ Top inducting the great Freddie King, Bette Midler paying honors to Laura Nyro, Chuck D giving the 411 on the Beastie Boys, Green Day welcoming Guns N’ Roses and Little Steven doing the honors for the Small Faces and Faces.

With Rod Stewart unable to attend, the Faces brought in Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall and before you throw things at the TV, we gotta say that while he’s no Stewart, he really ain’t too shabby!
