No, the 'Golden Triangle of Happiness' is not a nickname for the game winning punt return in Saturday's Michigan-Michigan State game.

According to research, the "Golden Triangle of Happiness" is a dead-on blueprint to achieving a happy life. And explaining why I'm not happy. At least not right now.

Researchers in Australia found that all three criteria of this Golden Triangle must be met – and all three criteria must be in balance.

Brace yourself for the secret to happiness …

In order to be happy, you need:

  1. Good personal relationships
  2. Financial security, and …
  3. A sense of purpose in life

I guess one out of three isn't bad. And there's still a chance I will find some purpose in life eventually, right?

Surprisingly, the research revealed health and happiness were pretty much totally unrelated.

Do you buy this list? If not, where do you think it goes wrong?

What simple things are most likely to give you an extra boost of happiness? A cold beer? A perfect steak off the grill? Your favorite sports team winning?
