The game appeared over. Even the ESPN app was reporting that the 22nd ranked team in the country, Oklahoma State, had defeated Central Michigan Saturday afternoon in Stillwater, OK.

Oklahoma State ran out the clock by throwing the ball away on fourth down as time ran out. But then the flag came out. What happened next was pretty awesome if you're a Chippewa.

The officials determined that Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph had intentionally grounded the ball, and they unbelievably handed CMU a free play. It was a call that will be debated all weekend as to whether CMU should have gotten the ball back. But the Chippewas made the most of it.

CMU quarterback Cooper Rush tossed a long ball to wide receiver Jesse Kroll, who was immediately grabbed by two OSU players. Kroll alertly tossed a lateral to Corey Willis, who was trailing the play. Willis then outraced three Cowboy defenders to the goal line to give the Chippewas an upset win to move their record to 2-0.
