The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for most of West Michigan starting late tonight and lasting through Thursday evening.

Here is the advisory issued for Kent County:

The Winter Storm Warning is in effect from until tomorrow night at 11:00 PM.

Hazardous Weather: Wet snow is expected to develop during the early morning hours near Route 10 then speed quickly south to near I-96 by sunrise. Snow will likely be heavy at times with some blowing and drifting during the daylight hours of Thursday.  Total snowfall 6 to 12 inches possible, more is not out of the question.  Strong north winds gusting to 45 mph Thursday... occasionally higher near Lake Michigan.

Impacts: Roads may become snow covered and slippery by early Thursday morning.  School and event cancellations possible.  Blowing and drifting snow possible.  Scattered power outages possible.
