Wee Difference For January: Steepletown Neighborhood Services

Steepletown is transforming lives within the West Side communities of Grand Rapids and the surrounding region through education, workforce development, and community empowerment. 

Steepletown is a neighborhood organization focused on youth development, family well-being, and community engagement. 21 years ago, three neighboring west side Catholic parishes founded Steepletown Neighborhood Services  “to promote neighbor helping neighbor live with dignity and hope.”

Through their three pillars of Education, Community Empowerment and Workforce Development, Steepletown personifies the ancient Chinese proverb of “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day.  If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime”.

By educating the youth, Steepletown creates the groundwork to help them break the cycle of poverty. By providing services for the family, Steepletown keeps families strong, and by providing workforce development, Steepletown keeps the youth of the community involved and engaged.
