Today, Michigan voters decided if the state sales tax would be increased from six percent to seven percent.

Voters in Byron Township, Caledonia, East Grand Rapids, Forest Hills, Grand Haven, Hudsonville, Kentwood, West Ottawa and other communities also had issues on the ballot.

Results are in.

Michigan's Proposal 1 would have raised the state sales tax from 6 percent to 7 percent. The proposal was easily voted down.

Byron Township voters overturned two zoning changes that would have allowed an apartment complex on 64th Street along M-6. 78 percent voted to not allow the apartments.

Caledonia passed a school millage.

East Grand Rapids voted 1,951 - 1,118 to pass a millage for street/sidewalk maintenance and repairs.

Forest Hills passed a school millage.

Godwin Heights passed a school bond proposal 603 - 561.

Grand Haven passed a school proposal 5,158 - 3,094.

Hudsonville passed a school millage 5,093 - 3,228.

Kenowa Hills voted against a bonding proposal 3,304 - 2004.

Kentwood failed a bonding proposal 4,407 (NO) - 4,054 (YES) and passed a millage renewal 4,974 (YES) - 3,253 (NO).

Port Sheldon Township passed a library proposal 723 - 464.

West Ottawa passed a school proposal 5,087 - 2,852.
