28 is a magic number for West Michigan skiers.

When temperatures are 28 or below, it's time for the snow guns to get to work.

Snowmaking started on Monday, December 10, at Cannonsburg Ski Area in Belmont.

The snowmaking has begun, but when skiing will begin is anyone's guess.

On Tuesday, December 11, Cannonsburg reported "solid piles of snow" via Facebook.  They also reported "much more snow in some spots than others".

They will continue making snow as long as Mother Nature permits.

But who knows what Mother Nature is thinking?
