Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a West Michigan teen Tuesday morning.

Investigators have identified the victim as 15-year-old Jonathan Bracamontes of Holland. He was hit by a car while walking around 6:15 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. 31 and Riley Street.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call from a woman named Ruth Borgman around 6:20 a.m. stating that she had hit something in the area of southbound US-31 and Riley Street. Borgman waited to call the police until after she drove to work in Holland and noticed that there was damage to her vehicle.

When authorities went to check the intersection they located Jonathan Bracamontes lying in the median. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Borgman told police that something "ran out in front of her" and also that she had a green light at Riley Street and had a large truck on her right side.

Police say the victim lived near the crash scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office at (616) 738-4042 or Silent Observer 1(877) 88-SILENT.
