Realtor.com has released their third annual list of the Hottest Zip Codes in America. Two Michigan zip codes have made the top ten including one from West Michigan.

Kentwood's 49548 has been named the third-hottest zip code in the country.

Realtor.com partly credits the growth of the Grand Rapids area and Kentwood's proximity to Gerald R. Ford International Airport. They said, "The dominant buyer segment in Kentwood is millennials, who hold 42 percent of new mortgages in the ZIP and have a 62 percent home ownership rate. Homes in Kentwood sell in 16 days, 49 percent more quickly than last year, with a median list price of $118,833, up 22.4 percent over last year. Kent County is expected to add 5,000 jobs this year, an increase of 2 percent."

32,000 zip codes were analyzed and ranked based on the time it takes properties to sell and how frequently homes are viewed. Homes in this year's top ten sell in an average of 21 days. That's 50 days faster than in the rest of the country.

Other factors contributing to high-ranking zip codes include: high millennial ownership rates, hiking trails, restaurants, nightlife, relative affordability of homes, large shares of older millennials, strong job markets and high salaries.
