What’s that Smell? It’s Skunks Mating In Grand Rapids!

After noticing a rank smell in the air of my northest Grand Rapids neighborhood, I discovered that it is skunk mating season. Or lack of mating. Because the smell is from females avoiding male attention.

If only human females had a nuclear option like this...After smelling skunk sauce the last few days around my house, a Reddit post brought me to this posting by the Blandford Nature Center on the West Side. It turns out it isn't skunks spraying predators with their fragrant scent, it's female skunks avoiding unwanted advances from unattracive males.

I guess the lesson here is a well timed fart may keep douchey guys at bay. Or something like that.

I still think rodents are planning a world takeover and this is just stage one. Remember -- the only good skunk is a dead skunk!
