Niche.com has released their annual list of the nation's top suburbs and a GR suburb leads the state rankings, which features three GR suburbs in the top ten.

So which Grand Rapids suburb topped is the best in the state?

The web site calculated its top suburbs list using the following criteria:

The 2016 Best Suburbs to Live ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of the overall livability of an area at the suburb level. This grade takes into account several key factors of a location, including the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics, and access to amenities in an attempt to measure the overall quality of an area.

East Grand Rapids topped the Michigan and Grand Rapids metro lists as the top rated suburb, nationally, EGR was 62nd. Forest Hills was seventh in the state, and Ada was eighth.

The survey counted Lakeshore cities Holland and Grand Haven in the metro, mainly because enough people make that hefty forty five minute commute into GR to work.
