There is a TV show on TLC called "All American Muslim". It's a basic cable "reality" show based on family's day to day life in Dearborn, but Detroit. The family is Muslim. The show portrays their struggle to live a normal life in a country which most of the time isn't very forgiving of any one who is "different". But, they would probably agree, the United States of America is the greatest country in the world.

The show has generated some controversy because a conservative group in Florida thinks the show is "propaganda clearly designed to counter legitimate and present-day concerns about many Muslims."
They have been successful in causing hardware giant Lowe's to staop advertising. Another national advertiser, travel website Kayak has also pulled it advertising from the show. Not because of the topic or show theme. No they have pulled because the president of the company thinks the show "sucks"

This whole situation has reminded me why this is the greatest country in the world. Where can a TV network put on a program that will rile some feathers, cause religious groups to protest, cause major advertisers to pull ads, and generate all kinds of publicity? The USA. Also, where can that same program continue to be shown, regular people can boycott the advertisers because they dont believe in their stupidity, or can a company just do what they think is best for their business? The USA.

We have the freedom to take many actions we take for granted that in other places they couldn't even imagine. The next time you choose to go to Home Depot or use Hotwire.com, or watch "Man vs. Food" on the Travel Network instead of "Toddlers and Tiaras" on TLC. Remember. Only in America. The All American Muslims agree.
