There are tons of people out there who love their cats, but did you know those cats may really want to kill you?

Maybe that's an extreme conclusion, but a new study conducted by the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and New York’s Bronx Zoo suggests that domestic house cats share the personality traits of African lions which means they may not love you as much as you think.

The organizations rated different animals based on five human personality traits – extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness. What they found was that domestic house cats show traits of dominance, impulsiveness and neuroticism, similar to African lions.

Max Wachtel, a Denver psychologist not affiliated with the study, says that daily traits of cats like “being anxious, being timid, being excitable, being aggressive toward humans, being aggressive toward each other” are also seen in lions, and adds, “if they were bigger, they probably would consider killing you.” So that explains that look I get every time I try to pick up my kitty.
