Living into your 80s is a blessing. Living well over 100? That's a story.

Jeralean Talley celebrated her 116th birthday last month at her local church and at a local office of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, but now she's moved on to the next level.

Jeralean's daughter, Thelma Holloway, confirmed that she has died, saying her mother was grateful to be at home, "just where she wanted to be." Born in 1899, she outlived her husband, who died in 1988 at the age of 95.

The Gerontology Research Group considered Talley to be the world's oldest person, according to HuffingtonPost. There's already someone quick on her tail. A Brooklyn woman named Susannah Jones turns 116 next month.

Talley was born in Montrose, Ga., and moved to Michigan in the 1930s. Her husband of 52 years, Alfred Talley, died in 1988. They had one child. Talley is survived by a daughter and three generations of grandchildren.
