Would You Pay $60 for a Light Bulb?

flickr photo

As Ron Popeil used to say – How much would you pay for an amazing, state-of-the-art light bulb?

The bulb is the most energy-efficient yet, lasts about 20 years and is supposed to give off a pleasing, natural-looking light – which is great, but it’s $60!!

Now keep in mind that price reflects the cost of the components but the  Philips is discounting it right away to $50 for consumers and trying to find ways to get it cheaper to $20 or so.

Would you pay $50 for a bulb that lasts 20 years?  I’m torn. I’m thinking not, but it’s probably the right thing to do.
