Every self-respecting Bon Jovi fan knows all about steel horses and the story of Tommy and Gina, but the history of New Jersey's most impressively coiffed rockers contains a lot more than that -- and you can hear all about it in our latest installment of You Think You Know Classic Rock?, which may contain a few surprises for even the most hardcore Joviphile.

For starters, although the band that bore his name got its first taste of national success with the 1984 single 'Runaway,' Jon Bon Jovi got his start in the music business well before he made his first appearance on MTV; in fact, his resume includes one particularly noteworthy gig that involves a certain infamous holiday album featuring two of sci-fi's best-loved droids.

Jon's early studio days were good for more than just earning him a footnote in one of the biggest film franchises in history, too. They also allowed him to rub shoulders with some of the New York area's finest session players, some of whom chipped in to help record 'Runaway' before Bon Jovi was even really a band. That group, dubbed 'The All Star Review,' even included a member of another famous New Jersey band. Who was it? You'll have to watch to find out.

And that isn't all! While it might seem obvious that Bon Jovi would end up taking the (stage) surname of their now-famous frontman, they actually almost went in another direction. You'll find out what Bon Jovi was almost called here -- and we even offer a refresher course in Jon's birth name. You think you know Bon Jovi? Watch this video and find out.
