10 MDOT Snow Plow Names That Just Make Sense
Snow is inevitable here in Michigan. It's like the sun, rain and clouds. We learn to work around it, and thanks to our great road crews it rarely puts a dent in our day. So without a doubt, you've probably seen a few of the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) snow trucks out and about this winter.
But have you ever thought about the fact each one of those snowplow comes with a name so they can tell them apart? Otherwise, how would each driver know which plow to jump into so they can come save the day and clear the roadways?
They're not numbered like buses or city vehicles. Instead, someone at MDOT deserves a raise because they gave us a mountain's worth of punny names to laugh at as we slide all over the roadways.
Some of the plows are named after the areas they serve. You may see snowplows in your neighborhood named things like Frankenmuth Chicken, Orange Yooper Storm Trooper, and Kalamazoo Canoe, which we love and appreciate. They also have some iconic names like "Mr.Plow" which you may remember from an early Simpsons episode.
But on the list of plow names, there is an entire large group of names that are celebrity parodies and whoever came up with them deserves a RAISE!
