Sad news to report as two people died in a two vehicle crash early Thursday morning in Ottawa County.

According to WOOD TV, the two vehicles collided at the intersection of 112th Avenue and Riley Street just before 3 a.m. near Holland.

Ottawa County Sheriff Sgt. Eric Westveer told WOOD-TV8 that one vehicle that contained four passengers was heading on the northbound side of 112th Avenue, drove through a flashing red light and slammed into the second vehicle that was heading westbound.

Unfortunately, the driver of the westbound vehicle was killed on impact. The driver of the vehicle that was carrying the four passenger also died in the crash.

The other three passengers that were riding in the vehicle that was heading northbound were all hospitalized and are listed in critical condition according to WOOD-TV.

The names of the drivers and passengers have not been released.

The intersection of 112th Avenue and Riley Street were closed for several hours while police investigated the crash and workers cleaned up the scene. Both roads have been reopened.
