About 100 people were involved in a fight that broke out Saturday (9/3) at a Michigan movie theater on a day designated as National Cinema Day.

The brouhaha broke out at approximately 9 pm at the cinema in Pittsfield Township, just south of Ann Arbor. Police arrested four people who were involved in the fight.

A video clip from the kerfuffle is embedded below.

What Are the Details?

The Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety responded to calls Saturday evening, finding roughly 100 disorderly people both inside the theater and in the parking lot. Officers tell Mlive that they were able to stop what they termed "the most aggressive fight" between three female minors.

In addition to the three teens, one adult was taken into custody.

Patrons Observed Chaos

Jeff Schuh is an Ann Arbor resident. He tells Mlive he was at the theater when the chaos began, saying that the $3 ticket price brought a lot of people out that night.

“We’re in the lobby and basically there was just a whole bunch of hooting and hollering and like yelling and stuff, just a whole bunch of people getting in each other’s face,” Schuh said. “… I wasn’t scared myself, but potential violence is there when you have that many people. I mean, it was $3 movie day, so there’s a whole lot of people there.”

Roughly eight million people purchased movie $3 tickets at participating theaters across the United States on the day designed to breathe new life into movie theaters. Comparatively, ticket sales for Friday and Sunday of the Labor Day weekend were about one million and 1.7 million respectively.
