Most of the big community firework shows around the Grand Rapids area of West Michigan have been canceled, which some officials say is why we’ve heard more fireworks before the holiday, because people have just started buying them, knowing they aren’t going somewhere. That, and they are bored.

Well, if you still want to see someone else pay for the fireworks and shoot them off, and maybe be a little grander than the Excalibur Artillery Shells most people are buying, then you might want to head to one of these, somewhat close, community firework shows.

Cadillac News posted on their Facebook page a few upcoming shows, which of course if you’re attending, you need to still practice social distancing and wearing face masks if you’re closer than 6-feet from others.

  • July 3 in Luther at Mill Pond Park.

  • July 4th you have a few choices,

    •     In Baldwin at Big Star Lake
    •     In Falmouth at Falmouth Dam
    •     At Lake Meauwataka
    •     At Merritt Speedway
  • July 5th in Cadillac which over Lake Cadillac.

All the shows start at dusk if you’re headed up to one of them.

If you don't want to head north, you can head towards Lansing, because according to MichiganFireworks.com and Fox 17, the community fireworks show in Portland, Michigan is still going on at Bouge Flats Recreational Area on July 3rd at dusk. Both websites say officials have said there is plenty of area for social distancing.

MichganFireworks.com says the show in Dorr is still happening on July 4th as part of their 2020 Celebration festival which also includes carnival rides.  I even went to the event website and they said it was a go and the firework show had plenty of space for social distancing as well. Their show will (as all shows) start at dusk, which would be around 10 pm.
