A Minneapolis woman is in deep doo-doo for trying send her niece a birthday package -- a puppy -- which she attempted to mail in a box with no food or air holes.

Stacey Champion paid $22 to mail the pooch-packed package, seemingly unaware that the four-month-old poodle mix would have almost surely died in transit. A postal worker saw movement in the box and alerted supervisors, who saved the puppy's life.

Champion, who faces animal cruelty charges, later returned to the post office to demand a refund for her postage. The clerks on duty declined that request.
