Bad Idea: Guy Showing Off Drops Expensive Camera

Isn't that how it goes, you start showing off then BLAM! Something bad happens.

Steady cams like featured in the video are pretty amazing technology that allows for smooth motion shots. The other way to get that is to set a camera up on rails, but that can be time consuming and limiting.

Steady cams, as I understand it, have their cons though. The first generation was really hard to handle, as you have a heavy camera arms length away that previously you had to man handle.

I get why this guy was showing off, to show the camera will support itself. Unfortunately, it looks like you should keep at least one hand on the camera or it will jump ship (as seen in this video).
