Governor Gretchen Whitmer is doing a tour of vaccination clinics and made a stop in Battle Creek.

According to WOOD, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is on a tour of Michigan vaccination clinics and the tour will make 2 stops on Friday with the first being in Battle Creek followed by a stop in Benton Harbor.

Nearly 4 and a half million doses of the vaccine has been sent to the state of Michigan so far. The state has already administered nearly 4 million doses so far with just under 30 percent of the population over 16 getting at least one of their two shots.

I got my text yesterday from Meijer and this time I filled it out immediately and before I could get all my questions answered the whole next week was filled but a week from Saturday I will be getting my first of two shots.

Michigan health officials had set a goal of administering on average of 50,000 shots per day but so far the state is performing at a higher level averaging over 62,000 shots per day. There's nothing like doing better than you think you can.

As of April 5th, if you are a Michigan resident age 16 or older you will be eligible to your vaccination so you should really consider getting registered immediately. Some Michigan counties have already moved to that phase of the vaccination campaign.

It is nice when your state is leading in something positive but as of right now when you look at Michigan as compared to the rest of the country, the state is number 5 in the nation with the highest case rate of COVID-19 and ranked number 11 in the country for hospitalizations. Even though many have been vaccinated Michigan, the state rise in positive cases is currently 3 times the recommended amount.

Don't let the warm weather fool you, the virus is still out there and these new variants are spreading much faster than the original strain.
