The World Beer Cup handed out their awards this weekend, and the beer city claimed some major awards.

The World Beer Cup Awards Were Handed Out May 5

The World Beer Cup awards ceremony was last Thursday in Minneapolis. They are handed out by the Brewers Association 'to increase consumer awareness and award excellence' in the brewing community.

It was the first time since 2020 that the award ceremony took place and this year featured a record amount of entries with 10,542 individual beers entered from 2492 breweries world wide, representing 54 nations.

Mitten Brewery Took Home A Gold And A Silver

Mitten Brewing Company from the city's west side took home a gold medal award in the "English, Mild or Bitter" category for their its Triple Crown Brown, an English brown ale with chocolate and roasted malt character. It previously won second place in the 2016 World Beer Cup.

Mitten also won a Silver Medal for their Rye Baby Imperial Red Ale in the "Strong Red Ale" category.

Brewery Vivant Won A Silver Medal In The 'Historical Beer' Category

The East Hills brewery won second place for its buckwheat Belgian beer, Lange Wapper, that is named after a shape shifting trickster from Belgian folklore.

According to untappd.com, the beer had previously won a gold medal at the Best of Craft Beer Awards earlier this year.
