Best Places In Grand Rapids To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse
I'm a big fan of The Walking Dead on AMC, and after watching season after season of the show I started to think about the possibility of a zombie apocalypse actually happening.
I thought about what my plan might be. Would I try to stay safe in my house? Or would I get in my car and make a mad dash to some underground bunker?
Apparently, I'm not the only person that has thought about this. I recently saw a post on Grand Rapids Reddit asking the question. If there’s a zombie apocalypse, which building in the Grand Rapids area are you holing up in?
Here's Where People Said They Would Go
It's going to take a lot of work but I'd clear out the Amway Grand hotel. Block off all the stairways and have a free run of the skywalk. Greenhouse on the top floor.
JW Marriott would be a good bet too. Also connects to a skywalk, has a securable loading dock, lots of booze and supplies in the different depts, river access, a helicopter pad up top, and secret tunnels.
Total Wine and More on 28th
Kentwood, but the old Steelcase pyramid, that thing is built like a fortress. Multiple floors, basement protection, snipers perch on the top. It would be epic.
Choo Choo Grill. The perfect place for a last supper
Costco because there are no windows and tons of supplies. But if we are looking for something more cinematic I’d set up a sniper’s nest in the steeple of one of those old churches downtown and mow down the hoard for as long as I can.
Meijer Gardens for the secure doors and the farm which would be my base. The horse statue for sniping. Plenty of herbs to heal up like in Resident Evil. Cactus for a weapon. Carts for transport.
Cabelas in Grandville actually has a great defensible position. The offices are great too as they're elevated with only a couple entrances.
