Early this morning in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a man was riding his bike when he didn't stop at an intersection and was killed by a semi.

According to WOOD, police say the accident happened on the West Side near Turner Avenue and 6th Street just after 5:30 a.m.

The bicyclist was 19-year-old Devon Lamont from Grand Rapids. Lamont was riding his bike west on 6th Street when he didn't stop at an intersection colliding with the semi truck who was turning left at the time.

Officers confirmed from witnesses that the truck did stop before making the left but say Lamont just didn't stop before crossing which left him dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi and other drivers who witnessed the accident all remained on the scene to help police.

Authorities say they do not believe speed, alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident. If you have any information you are asked to contact Officer Justin Ewald at 616-456-4282.
