The coronavirus pandemic has made its way to Michigan.

In a press conference, Governor Gretchen Whitmer confirmed two cases of the virus on Tuesday evening. The affected individuals is a woman from Oakland County and a man from Wayne County. Both are said to be middle-aged and both recently traveled. The man is currently under isolation.

The Governor also declared a state of emergency to maximize resources and help local governments slow the spread. Whitmer advised Michiganders to take "preventative measures" to protect themselves and their families such as constant hand washing, not touching your face, and not shaking hands with people.

It is likely that COVID-19 will now spread across the state and communities are advised to have preparations in place.

The state has set up a website dedicated to anything and everything about the virus so Michiganders can stay informed and prepared, including daily updates.
