Brian Wilson has announced  the Something Great From '68 tour, with the Zombies as the opening act.

After spending much of the past few years on the road focusing on songs from the Beach Boys' 1967 masterpiece Pet Sounds, Wilson will now spotlight the band's 1968 album Friends.

The tour will launch on Aug. 31 at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and conclude on Sept. 26 at the Beacon Theatre in New York. Ticket information hasn't been announced yet, but you can see dates below.

“It’s been quite a year and I’m ready to go out and tour some music that makes everyone have a feel good vibe,” Wilson said in a statement reprinted by Rolling Stone. “The Friends album has always been one of my favorites, and I love the music from that time in history.”

In addition to highlighting Friends, Wilson will also perform many of the tracks from 1971's Surf's Up. The Zombies, who were recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will play their own 1968 magnum opus, Odessey and Oracle. For all but the first two dates, the current version of the Zombies will be aided by founding members Chris White (on bass) and Hugh Grundy (drums).

Wilson's musical director, Darian Sahanaja, told Rolling Stone that “any fan of Pet Sounds should immediately identify with Odessey and Oracle. Rich harmonic tapestries, baroque impressions with an underlying melancholy … classicism with an emotional yearning that I find common in both Brian’s songwriting and that of the Zombies. To be able to perform with both entities on the same bill is a dream within a dream within a ‘hung up’ dream come true.”
