Picture of proposal at wedding goes viral, but it's not what you think. After getting bashed on the internet, the couple says the whole thing was misunderstood.

A photo posted on Reddit of a man making the ultimate faux pas - proposing to his girlfriend at a wedding in front of the bride and groom - was all over the internet this week, with many folks upset that someone would dare upstage a bride, but it seems the public jumped to the wrong conclusion. What a surprise!

The internet had a field day with the picture, with over 1,000 people commenting on it. While some gave the guy the benefit of the doubt, most felt bad for the bride and blasted the guy for taking away the spotlight from her.

“Her smile says ‘congratulations,’ her eyes say ‘that b**ch’,” wrote one user, while another added, “The bride is doing a really good job of hiding her murder.” Still, another had a perfect idea for a way the bride can get back at the inconsiderate couple. One user noted, "When that couple gets married, the current couple will announce their pregnancy. The cycle will continue.”

But it turns out the bride was actually happy for the couple. The woman getting proposed to told the New York Daily News that she is the bride's sister, and it was actually the bride's idea to have the proposal take place at the wedding. “My fiancé told her he didn't want to ruin their day and she insisted it would only make it better!” the sister, who only gave her first name, Megan explained. “The groom of the wedding actually held my engagement ring the entire trip! Everyone in the Reddit picture knew the proposal was going to happen except for me!” That's one amazing sister, because if it was me, I doubt I'd be so gracious.
