Bridge GR is Happening Now & There’s Lots of Things To Do!

For so long we've been saying "there's nothing to do" because of the pandemic but finally! There's something to do!

Bridge GR, a month-long event, is officially underway in the city offering lots of exciting events that include things to do, see, hear, eat, and learn! The point of Bridge GR is to not only celebrate art and culture but re-stimulate the local economy, and the businesses, that suffered because of the pandemic.

A wide range of community groups will host a series of events and activities throughout downtown and in various city neighborhoods from August 28 through October 3. Streets, parks, parking lots and yes, bridges will come alive with all manner of entertainment and engagement.

Activities range from free workouts like yoga on the Blue Bridge & Zumba at Rosa Parks Circle from cultural events like the African American Art and Music Festival (9/26) at Studio Park and an AutumnFestival (10/3) hosted by the Asian Pacific Festival on the Blue Bridge. There will also be stuff to do for children like "Chalk the Town" on 9/26. The "Community Comedy Awards Night" seems like a really fun time to me. It's a play-along comedy show involving games and trivia at Studio Park on the 12th. And of course, there will be lots of live music from local artists and music from local DJ's. You can even enjoy a drive-in movie or a movie in the park on one of the nights. As you can see there is a lot to do.

This Saturday, there's a Summer in the City Concert featuring four artists at Studio Park in Downtown G.R.

All events will be held outdoors and will be limited to 100 people per event due to the current executive order. Masks are also highly encouraged and social distancing must be maintained.

The event was put together by the city of Grand Rapids, Experience GR, the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, and Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. to make up for the cancellation of ArtPrize 2020.
