Burton St Near Godfrey Ave SW Closed Earlier Because of Accident

Fox 17 reports that a serious accident involving a car and dump truck has temporarily closed Burton Street near Godfrey Ave SW until the accident can be cleaned up.

Fox 17 says the driver of the car was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but the driver of the dump truck sustained no injuries.  The accident happened around 10:30 am today.

WOOD-TV8 reports that the accident occurred after the dump truck driver attempted to stop at the intersection, but lost control of the vehicle. The truck crossed over into westbound traffic and struck the car.

Authorities expect the intersection to be closed for clean up and investigation until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
