U.S. News & World Report's annual ranking of the best high schools in the country names City Middle-High School of Grand Rapids second in Michigan and one of the best in the country.

In Michigan, City Middle-High School only ranks behind only International Academy of Macomb. City Middle-High School ranks 38th in the country.

U.S. News ranked 17,245 public high schools. They reviewed about 23,000 high schools. Those with an enrollment of 15 or more were ranked. Categories that applied to the rankings include: college curriculum and readiness using AP and IB test results, math and reading proficiency and performance, underserved student performance, and graduation rate.

Among those categories, City-Middle High School performed their best in math and reading performance and their lowest in graduation rate. The final rankings were determined by combining and weighting all categories.
