There soon will be a new place to eat in downtown Grand Rapids! A build-your-own taco restaurant, called Condado Tacos, will be opening next week.

The new Condado Tacos will be located in the Bridge Street Loft Apartments building, located at 449 Bridge Street NW. (It's the new building right next to the Anchor Bar, where the old Red Lion restaurant used to be.)

The new restaurant features a build-your-own-taco concept and has been operating since 2014. The first Condado Tacos was locaterd in Columbus, OH. They currently have 19 locations -- including three others in Michigan, along with restaurants in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania -- with more on the way.

The official Condado Tacos website says: "We’re all about the tacos, tequila + margaritas, but the main attraction is our build-your-own tacos! Choices range from toppings + proteins, to shells + sauces. We pride ourselves on having fresh ingredients made every single day and -- unlike other joints -- tacos made your way."

They will be celebrating their opening on Thursday, February 4th 2020 at 11 a.m.

During Condado’s grand opening celebration in Grand Rapids, guests can enjoy a free taco with purchase. The grand opening celebration will continue into the weekend with exciting contests and prizes. Guests who post their taco photo to Instagram during opening weekend with #condadobridgestreet will be entered to win one of 10 $100 Condado gift cards. On Friday, Feb. 5 and Saturday, Feb. 6, each order will also include a complementary “Peel & Win” card for a chance to win free menu items, gift cards, or free tacos for one year.

Seating during the opening weekend will be limited due to recent 25 percent dine-in capacity restrictions, although it will remain on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required inside the restaurant. Condado Tacos is following all State of Michigan and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for restaurants including masks required for employees, tables placed six feet apart, handwashing and all cleaning and disinfecting procedures.

Condado in Grand Rapids features artwork based on the theme “A Grand City.” Guests will find artist interpretations of Grand Rapids and the state of Michigan from flowers and woodland animals to downtown bridges and buildings. Grand Rapids icons are also represented through nods to celebrities, the arts and much more.
