Consumers Energy wants you to save energy, so they have announced a new program called "Summer Peak Rates."  Starting on June 1st and lasting through September 30th, Consumers Energy will be instituting a change in their rates that is aimed at encouraging consumers to save money by saving energy.

In order to encourage customers to reduce energy use, Consumers Energy will be charging a rate 1.5 times higher than normal between the hours of 2 pm and 7 pm from Monday thru Friday.  During the the weekend and outside of those hours, Consumers will be reducing the rate down to normal rate that you would be paying between the months of October thru May.

These new rates were announced prior to the coronavirus pandemic but their hasn't been any changes announced to the program.  If Consumers Energy announces any changes, we will update this story with the information they provide.
