The boys of summer in the motor season report to training camp Wednesday, so looks like we will have a short season unless camps get over run with COVID-19.

It is the first day of training camp so it is too early to tell if the safety mechanisms that will be put into place will keep players, coaches and staff safe from the spread of the coronavirus.

Normally players would have been three months into training and start of the season but finally the Tigers are back at Comerica Park to prepare.

According to FOX 17, Governor Whitmer has given the ok for professional sports to return in Michigan but no live audience and plenty of COVID-19 guidelines for the teams to follow.

The Tigers will hold their first official workout on Friday. The team will take the next two days to be briefed on COVID-19 precautions, get workout schedules and other instructions until the workout begins.

What we know so far is all team members and staff get tested and screened before entering Comerica Park. There will also be a COVID-19 injured list if players test positive.

MLB put some rules into place like showering at home, no spitting, no high fives. Extra innings will have a runner starting at second base. Dugouts and bullpens are going to be made bigger. The National League will even have designated hitters for the first time in history.

Well we will have 60 games to watch on television and more if the Tigers can make it to the playoffs.

Opening day will be either Thursday, July 23 or Friday, July 24. Well its a start and we all will learn a lot as the season moves forward and hopefully makes it to a World Series.
