A food distribution event is being held today for Kent County residents facing food insecurity due to COVID-19.

The event is Thursday, June 4, 9a.m. to 1p.m. at the DeltaPlex at 2500 Turner Avenue NW in Walker.

Fox 17 reports that Kent County Community Action aims to assist about 1,200 households. Packages will include more than 20 items, and may include fresh fruit, canned vegetables and fruit, pasta, and frozen meat.

The event is drive-up only. Drivers should remain in their cars and have space cleared in their trunk for up to 75 pounds of food. Vehicles should enter at the West River Drive entrance.
