East Grand Rapids is latest city to announce some fun summer things in the books.

The Concerts and Movies in the Park will be held at John Collins Park, right on Reeds Lake, which make the whole experience better. Reeds Lake is one of my favorite places to hang out by. Whether it be laying on a blanket reading a book, sitting on a bench overlooking the water, or eating right by the lake... there's something so peaceful about it.

The city's Recreation Department is putting on six concerts and four movies in the park that people can attend for free. Both will be family-friendly and for all ages.

The concerts will feature local musicians and bands and will be held Monday nights from 7p-8:30p.

  • June 14, 21, and 28
  • July 12, 19, and 26

Movies will be shown on Friday's at sunset:

  • July 9: Moana
  • July 16: Sing
  • August 20: Aladdin (2019)
  • August 27: Raya and the Last Dragon

The city says this is one of the few events that they were actually to keep in 2020 and are excited to bring it back again. East G.R.'s leisure supervisor said,

Participants expressed feeling comfortable attending and were thrilled to experience a sense of normalcy, which was truly priceless after several months’ worth of canceled plans.
